Who Needs to Submit a CIS Tax Return? ?
CIS stands for construction industry scheme. In this scheme the contractors (employers of CIS workers) need to deduct 20% or 30% of CIS tax before paying CIS subcontractors/workers.
- Higher rate of 30% CIS tax is deducted forCIS subcontractors who are not registered for self-employment with HMRC
- 20% CIS tax is deducted for CIS Subcontractors registered for self employment and have a UTR.
